ACP's Center for Practic Innovation

Publicity:

The ACP is engaged in a very active advocacy campaign that started with our State of the Nation’s Health Care address at the National Press Club on January 30, 2006. The College also released a position paper on January 30, 2006 (co-authored by Michael S. Barr) called, “The Advanced Medical Home: A Patient-Centered, Physician-Guided Model of Health Care.” This policy paper articulates a vision of health care in which the best quality of care is provided not in episodic, illness-oriented, complaint-based care — but through patient-centered, physician-guided, cost-efficient, longitudinal care that encompasses and values both the art and science of medicine. The Center for Practice Innovation is increasingly used as an example of how the College is trying to operationalize some of our ideas about small practice redesign to address the concerns about the practice environment identified in our policies.
