Medicare Pay-for-Report Program: Physicians Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) Resources for 2008
Still Time to Earn a Medicare Bonus for Reporting Quality Information in 2008
While it is late in 2008, you still have time to report quality information that will enable you to earn a Medicare bonus for this year. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) made reporting options available on July 1 that enable you to qualify for a bonus for reporting on a relatively small number of your patients. You can report the quality measures in a measures group for 15 consecutive Medicare beneficiaries with a common condition such as diabetes. You also can report on consecutive patients for which you submit data to a registry that maintains your information electronically and then submits the needed quality information to Medicare. CMS has identified registries that are eligible to report quality information on behalf of physicians to receive PQRI reporting credit.
Click here for an ACP slide presentation outlining the 2008 reporting options, highlighting those that became available July 1.
Additional details on the PQRI program and the options for 2008 are listed below in the "Preparing Your Practice for PQRI" section.
Tools to help you take advantage of the options for reporting in the last half of 2008 are below in the "Participating in PQRI" section.
