MKSAP 14 can now be used for Canadian Professional Development credit. MKSAP 14 has been officially approved as a Self-Assessment Program (SAP) under Section 3 of the framework of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC). Fellows of the RCPSC are eligible to claim two credits per hour for participation in SAPs under Section 3, as opposed to only one credit per hour for most other CPD activities.
-
According to the RCPSC, the objectives of the Continuing Professional Development program are two fold:
-
To ensure that participants are engaged in professional development endeavors that are directed at enhancing the quality of special care.
-
To provide standard documentation for participants to demonstrate their participation in professional development activities for purposes such as licensure or privileges to practice.
The approval of MKSAP 14, valid for 3 years, means the program is an accredited Self-Assessment Program (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the RCPSC. It has been reviewed and approved by the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine.
