CIL is a 24/7 telephone response system. Although established initially to respond to clinicians’ questions regarding smallpox, smallpox vaccine, and adverse events following smallpox vaccination, the CIL has been expanded to provide clinicians with the same services for 8 other emergent diseases and terrorism agents (SARS, West Nile Virus, Influenza, Avian influenza, ricin, radiation, anthrax, and chlorine).
ICERX.org (In case of emergency prescription database)
is an online service developed for healthcare professionals assisting disaster-affected individuals. Through ICERx.org, authorized pharmacists and doctors can obtain records of medications evacuees were using prior to the disaster, including the specific dosages.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced the release of a new computer model, developed by researchers in the Department of Public Health at Weill Cornell Medical College, that will help health officials better plan large-scale antibiotic dispensing and vaccination responses to bioterrorism and large-scale epidemics. The computer model allows public health and emergency planners to estimate the number and type of staff required to operate mass prophylaxis clinics.
